When Abbey & Nathan reached out about capturing their babymoon in Maine, I knew it was going to be something special. Traveling all the way from out of state, they wanted to celebrate this exciting chapter in their lives with a maternity session that felt intimate, romantic, and full of the magic of the Maine coast. They chose the charming Captain Nichols Inn in Searsport as their home away from home—a historic inn with so much character, making it the perfect backdrop for their session.

Rain? Not a problem.

On the day of their session, Mother Nature decided to throw us a curveball with steady rain all day long. But if there’s one thing I love about being a Maine motherhood photographer, it’s making the unexpected work in our favor! With a cozy inn like Captain Nichols as our setting, we embraced the weather and created images that feel warm, intimate, and timeless.

We started on the covered porch which was surrounded by beautiful greenery, vines, and blooms. We then moved inside to their beautifully decorated room, capturing quiet moments between the two of them as they soaked in the excitement of their growing family. Soft window light, vintage furniture, and the cutest little baby bump made for sweetest images. You’d never know it was pouring outside!

When the rain lightened up, we ventured onto the Inn’s beautiful property. Baby was the size of an apple at that week in her pregnancy so when we noticed the apple trees on the property we felt it necessary to honor that milestone! Abbey, who is an amazing photographer herself, trusted me completely, which made the session so much fun and effortless.
